Hello, My name is Snow. The reason you don't see my picture is
so that I can explain what happened to me and prepare you for what
you are about to see.
I have cancer. I got it, just like
people do, from too much exposure to the sun. You see, I'm a white
cat and I had pink ears and a pink nose and mouth. That pink skin did
not have enough pigment to give me any protection from the sun's rays.
If you have kitties, or doggies for that matter, that are white or
very light in color, please protect them from the sun. They don't know
how dangerous that nice warm light can be. It just seems like the
perfect place to take a nap is with nice soft grass under the belly
and nice warm sunshine on the face. But that is a big mistake.
You
may notice flaking sunburn skin on your pet, and sunburn after sunburn
results in
what I got. The treatment for the time being is freezing the cancer
cells to slow their growth. But that is not a cure.
Snow could no longer breathe due to the cancer. He passed away at the
doctor's office.
Please keep your light colored pets indoors. If they must go out,
you can try a sun block, but you know they lick that off right away,
so PLEASE LIMIT THEIR TIME IN THE SUN!
